Eighth annual program honoring lighting retailers set for June 21 at Lightovation

DALLAS, TX – Finalists for the 2017 Showroom of the Year Awards, honoring top lighting retailers, have been announced. The 8th annual awards program is presented in partnership by Lighting & Decor magazine and Lightovation – Dallas International Lighting Show, and the winners will be announced at a reception on Wednesday, June 21, at 6 p.m. during Lightovation at Dallas Market Center.

The finalists in all three categories — Revenue Under $2 Million, Revenue Under $5 Million and Revenue $5 Million and Over — are profiled in Lighting & Decor’s May issue.

Finalists in the Revenue Under $2 Million category are: Bright Ideas, Rochester, MN; Hall Lighting and Design, Victoria, TX; Heritage Lighting, Lambertville, NJ; Inland Lighting, Yakima, WA; Light Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara, CA; The Lighting Design Center, Tinton Falls, NJ; Lumen Nation, North Canton, OH; Northtown Lighting Inc., Appleton, WI; The Saltbox Lighting, De Pere, WI; WaterPlace, Crown Point, IN.

“Some of the finalists are former winners and some are new participants in the Showroom of the Year Awards competition,” said Lighting & Decor Editor-in-Chief Nicole Bowling. “We have seen some tremendous creativity among the showroom entrants.”

“We are excited to partner with Lighting & Decor for the eighth year of celebrating exceptional lighting retailers through the Showroom of the Year Awards program,” said Cindy Morris, President and CEO of Dallas Market Center. “We look forward to hosting the finalists and the industry at large during June Lightovation.”

In addition to the three dollar-volume category awards presented at the June 21 reception, three specialty awards will also be given, for which all finalists are eligible: Outstanding Merchandising Display, Exceptional Community Involvement and Social Media Star, an award that industry members help select on Lighting & Decor’s Facebook page.

Once again, 50 percent of the scoring for the Social Media Star Award will be determined by “likes” posted to finalist profiles within the Showroom of the Year Social Media Star Event on Lighting & Decor magazine’s Facebook page through May 12, 2017. Official judges’ scores complete the remaining 50 percent of scoring for that category.

To determine the six award winners, the finalists’ entries are reviewed by a panel of prestigious judges: Pamela N. Danziger, columnist, market researcher and author of seven books, including “Shops That POP! 7 Steps to Extraordinary Retail Success;” Mary Mazzeffi, retail visual display designer and two-time Christmas decorator for the White House; and Linley Paske and Lauren Pasqualone, social media “entertrainers” and co-owners of the marketing firm LP2 Boutique Agency.
