ROMAC to Host Open House for National Members of PEARL

CITY OF COMMERCE, CA – ROMAC, a well-known provider of new and remanufactured electrical equipment will be hosting an open house for the 20 year anniversary of PEARL. The Professional Electrical Apparatus Recyclers League (PEARL) is the first organization of its kind to maintain an industry wide standard on the quality, safety, reliability and repair of reconditioned electrical equipment. Members of PEARL will be taxied by bus to MGM Transformers a few blocks from ROMAC for a tour. They will then arrive at ROMAC around 6pm to be taken on a tour of the large ROMAC manufacturing, reconditioning, and distribution center.

PEARL’s 20 year anniversary is a culmination of two major milestones. The first is bringing national and local businesses within the same industry, all competitors, together, to create PEARL. The second pertains to the 2017 Edition of the National Electrical Code. For the first time in the history of the NEC, this code will include language that makes reference to non-new electrical equipment. What is most notable about this accomplishment is that it has altered the inspection process. Prior to the change, the criteria for passing the inspection process only included new equipment. Now, by including reconditioned equipment to the passing criteria, the NEC has confirmed the viability of reconditioned electrical equipment for residential, industrial, and commercial purposes.

The majority of electrical apparatus used daily in the U.S. is reconditioned and remanufactured electrical equipment made safe for reuse. “One important message I like to share is that reconditioned electrical equipment be seen as vital, safe, and reliable”, said David Rosenfield, the CEO of ROMAC and past president of PEARL. The synergy of ROMAC and PEARL is not only tied to the reuse of low and medium voltage electrical equipment, but the realization that there is an environmental impact when durable goods are not remanufactured. David went on to say that “durable goods such as these are meant to experience multiple service lifetimes before they have fulfilled their purpose”.

This event kicks off PEARL’s Electrical Safety, Reliability and Sustainability Conference & Exhibition taking place in Newport Beach, April 6-9, at the Island Hotel.
