2018 IDEAL National Championship Competition

2018 IDEAL National Championship Competition

Anticipation was high and determination was in the air at the 2018 IDEAL National Championship Competition held in Orlando Florida. This year’s competition started off with nearly 40,000 competitors and we entered the finals weekend with just 145 competitors between the Professional, Student/Apprentice and Team divisions. With over $600,000 in prizes being awarded throughout, competitors were focused and you could feel the intensity while each worked to become the best electrician in North American.

Announcer Chip Ward kicks off each round with excitement as competitors file in and take their places at their stations. With time clocks ready and a cart full of tools, competitors face challenge projects they are first introduced to at competition time that last 60 – 75 minutes with points being deducted after target times. Their work is examined, energized and tested for proper operation as well as in areas such as quality, safety and time by judges working in pairs throughout the competition floor.

After several elimination rounds the top 3 position holders were determined in each division. We congratulate the following:

Professional Champions are 1st Place – Greg Anliker, with a prize amount of $75,000. 2nd Place – Roman Ryszewski with a prize amount of $25,000 and 3rd Place – Erik Martin with a prize amount of $10,000

Student/Apprentice Champions are 1st Place – Benjamin Budd, with a prize amount of $30,000 2nd Place – Michael Yass, with a prize amount of $20,000 and 3rd Place – Corbin Rios with a prize amount of $10,000.

Student/Apprentice Team Champion is Team J Becher Minneapolis JATC (Katherine Flanery, Patrick Flanery and Jeremy Welle) with a prize amount of $30,000.

As the final weekend came to a close, you knew all attendees left with a great sense of accomplishment and goals of returning next year to participate in the IDEAL National Championship Competition…….Where Electricians becomes Legends.
