Dr. Nasr is Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Director of the Golisano Institute for Sustainability and Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He also founded the Center for Remanufacturing and Resource Recovery at RIT, which has become a leading source of applied research and solutions in remanufacturing technologies.

Dr. Nasr will speak Friday, April 13, with his address titled “Remanufacturing Development in the USA.” The presentation will focus on two main topics, a recent remanufacturing road map, and the REMADE Institute, which is a new Manufacturing USA Institute funded by the US Department of Energy. The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) was funded by the US National Institute for Standards and Technology AMTech program to develop a technology road map for the US Remanufacturing industry. This effort included industry surveys, site visits, and several workshops to integrate industry input, and the results will be summarized. The new REMADE institute, which RIT is starting up in Rochester NY, will focus on Reducing EMbodied-energy And Decreasing Emissions in Materials Manufacturing.  The overall goals of the institute will be reviewed, with a focus on two of the key technology areas:  remanufacturing, and design for remanufacturing.
