Ai Weiwei Creates Limited Edition Artworks for Amsterdam Light Festival

Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei will debut his new work ‘thinline’ at this year’s Amsterdam Light Festival. The artwork will span over a distance of 6.5 kilometres and encompasses the entire water exposition. With ‘thinline’ Ai Weiwei challenges viewers to think about the meaning of borders, figuratively as well as literally. Who determines a border? Do they protect or exclude? In addition to ‘thinline’, the artist created a number of smaller artworks exclusively for Amsterdam Light Festival. The 100 signed pieces, ‘thinline, limited edition’, will be made of the same material as the original work. The proceeds will contribute to the realization of ‘thinline’, the incredible artwork that will ‘embrace’ the canals and other works of this year’s water exposition.

Over 25 of the 100 artworks have been sold. Buyers who complete their payment before November 1st will be invited to an exclusive Meet & Greet with Ai Weiwei on November 29th. The dimensions of ‘thinline, limited edition’ are 60 x 45 x 15 centimetres. The artworks will be signed and delivered with a certificate of authenticity. With pre-subscription the price of the artwork is € 2.500,- including VAT, excluding shipping costs.
