Hubbell Lighting Wins Best Conversion to an AD Supplier Award

GREENVILLE, SC – Hubbell Lighting was recognized by AD during its annual awards event with the 2019 Best Conversion to an AD Supplier Award at the 2019 Electrical North American Meeting. Hubbell Lighting’s conversion with VP Supply Corp, a leader in the Northeastern U.S. for electrical products, wholesale plumbing, HVAC, renewable energy, kitchen and bath design industries, was rewarded for increasing job and stock more than 223 percent. 

In comments made when Hubbell accepted the award, Chris Stockton, vice president of sales at Hubbell Lighting, noted, “At Hubbell Lighting we take a qualitative approach when we select which distributors we are going to work with in target markets and we chose partners that are poised to be relevant far into the next decade.”

“In partnership with our agent, Lightspec, we were able to take our biggest challenge, new product education and training, and turn it into our best opportunity,” said Clayton Smith, director of business development – C&I Distributor Sales, at Hubbell Lighting. “By hosting a number of informative events at our Lighting Solutions Center in Greenville, SC, we were better equipped to make joint sales calls to every branch.”

The Best Conversion to an AD Supplier is designed to recognize and reward best practices for mutually-beneficial partnerships. It showcases a new partnership between an AD Member and Supplier. It specifically calls for nominations that demonstrate how new partners establish unique and successful business arrangements between an AD Member and Supplier. This award is important to AD because it demonstrates how investing in relationships can accelerate growth. AD members have made “accelerating growth” a strategic initiative and this award serves as a significant example of how others can pursue similar relationships. 

Significant stock sales across several Hubbell’s portfolio of brands served as evidence for the award. The FMS that VP Supply hosted, and HLI participated in, back in 2016, was the catalyst for the conversion opportunity. At that time both organizations made a commitment to ensure product education and training would be embedded in all future activities. 

AD also recognized VP Supply and Hubbell Lighting for proactively developing a merchandising and display strategy for strategic locations in Upstate New York. This was complemented by significant support from Hubbell Lighting’s agent in Upstate NY, Lightspec. 

This was great visibility and recognition for Hubbell Lighting and the organization’s efforts within AD, a significant buying group in the Electrical Industry.
