Industry Leaders to be Honored at NAED National Meeting

 

Jim Risk will receive the industry’s highest honor, the Arthur W. Hooper Award

ST. LOUIS, MO – The National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED) will honor four industry leaders who have made significant contributions to the electrical industry with NAED Annual Achievement Awards.

The awards, recognizing individuals and companies that embody the industry’s highest standards, will be presented during the 2017 NAED National Meeting in Boston on Friday, May 5.

NAED congratulates:

Jim Risk, president and CEO, Kirby Risk Corp., is the recipient of the NAED’s highest honor, the 2017 Arthur W. Hooper Achievement Award. This honor is presented to an individual who has led an exceptional career in electrical distribution spanning many years. Risk has been a long-time leader within the electrical distribution industry through his involvement with NAED. He has attended meetings and conferences for 50 years, was a founding member of the Young Executives Today committee, and has held numerous leadership positions including the board of directors, chair of the industrial committee, and area chairman.

John Hardy, executive vice president, business development, Sonepar, is the recipient of the 2017 NAED Distributor Distinguished Service Award. The award is given in recognition of outstanding and dedicated service to NAED and the electrical distribution industry. Hardy has been an active NAED member for more than 40 years and has participated in numerous NAED committees and councils including currently serving as the NAED Education & Research Foundation’s chair.

Jim Bracken is the recently retired GM—channel management for GE and recipient of the 2017 NAED Associate Service Award. The Associate Service Award is given to an individual at a manufacturing firm who has consistently promoted and supported the tenets and goals of the NAED. Bracken spent his entire 37 year career with GE and has worked on both the manufacturer and distributor side of the business.

Acuity Brands will receive the 2017 NAED Industry Award of Merit. This award is presented in recognition of a company or individual in the electrical manufacturing business that has been remarkably active in promoting and supporting the wholesale electrical distribution industry. Acuity Brands is receiving this award for its dedication and commitment to both the NAED and the industry.

Crescent Electric Supply Company and Lutron Electronics will be recognized for their employee training efforts with the Excellence in Training Awards. This award is presented to both a distributor and a manufacturer that has been exceptionally active in the area of training and development to improve the electrical distribution channel.

Lynn T. MacDonald, Werner Electric Supply, and Jim Summerlin, Mayer Electric Supply Co., will receive Honorary Life Membership awards.

NAED is the trade association for the $70+ billion electrical distribution industry. Through networking, education, research, and benchmarking, NAED helps electrical distributors increase profitability and improve the channel. NAED’s membership operates in more than 5,100 locations internationally.
