FARGO, ND — Border States Electric (BSE) recently broke ground on a 120,000-square-foot corporate headquarters building at the intersection of I-29 and I-94 in Fargo, North Dakota.

“We are proud to be a growing, 100% employee-owned company, headquartered in Fargo, ND. Our headquarters is the home to approximately 350 employee-owners who support over 90 branch locations across 18 states,” said Tammy Miller, CEO and Board Chair. “This new Branch Support Center will allow us to bring our corporate office teams, who are currently scattered across three facilities in Fargo, into one to better serve our customers and branches.”

The Border States design team weighed needs with their budget to maximize every dollar spent to create a workplace that will enhance collaboration and productivity, portray the company brand and enhance recruiting. The three-story building with capacity for 540 employee-owners, gives Border States room for growth.

This Branch Support Center groundbreaking follows BSE’s announcement earlier this month that they had reached an agreement to acquire Kriz-Davis Co., an electrical distributor headquartered in Grand Island, Nebraska. Both companies are 100 percent employee-owned through Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs). Kriz-Davis Co. (www.krizdavis.com) and its wholly owned subsidiary, Chapman Metering, will join the Border States family on August 28, 2017 (pending regulatory approval).

Border States supplies products and services to construction, industrial and utility customers. The 100 percent employee-owned company has nearly 2300 employee-owners and is the seventh largest electrical distributor in the U.S. as ranked by Electrical Wholesaling magazine. The company plans to acquire Kriz-Davis, Co. headquartered in Grand Island, Nebraska, on August 28 and will add 19 branches and 250 employee owners.
