Los Angeles Lighting was honored to be part of the conversation for San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD) at 2018 Green California Schools Summit and Community Colleges Summit, and moderate the discussion about SBCCD’s journey to achieving Zero Net Energy.
The 2018 Green California Schools and Community Colleges Summit and Exposition was held at the Pasadena Convention Center October 29-30. The nation’s first statewide green schools’ event, the conference brings together the public and private sector professionals who are driving the progress of green programs in the nation’s largest public education system.
LA Lighting played an instrumental role in achieving Zero Net Energy for San Bernardino Community College District’s recent lighting renovation project. Utilizing the RGPA520 and RGHL320 Retrofit Solutions in pre-existing fluorescent housings allowed SBCCD to keep both the cost of the retrofit project down, as well as installation cost. The Retrofit Solutions are designed to be installed in just under 5 minutes, with only the removal of the existing fluorescent lamps and ballast from the fixture.
Replacing old fluorescent technology with new LED Retrofit Solutions for prismatic and parabolic troffers, and integrating wireless controls into fixtures allowed SBCC to reduce their energy consumption by more than half.
The Retrofit Project allowed SBCCD to stay at the forefront of energy efficiency and sustainability by working with SCE in a Pilot Program to demonstrate that technical feasibility of Zero Net Energy is possible in retrofit fixtures in public schools. This conference provided an excellent opportunity to share LA Lighting’s latest experience.
