—Interactive experience at the September 21-22 event to create light display driven by data from the architectural, specification and design communities—
DALLAS, TX – Dallas Market Center’s September 21-22 ArchLIGHT Summit event has announced an exciting collaboration with Light Collective, a UK-based lighting consultancy with a global portfolio.
The Design DNA project will collect professional data from members of the architectural, specification and design communities from around the world to illustrate what makes individuals unique in their experiences and yet statistically similar. The project is an offshoot of Light Collective’s International Lighting Design Family Tree, which highlighted connections within the worldwide lighting design field. Design DNA builds on that idea while being more inclusive of the additional disciplines of architects, lighting designers, interior designers, students and more attending the ArchLIGHT Summit.
Design DNA participants supply seven responses about basic areas of information pertaining to their professional careers at https://lightingdesignfamilytree.com/design-dna.html, resulting in a visual representation of how that user’s information compares to others. Individual DNA results will be available online as well as visually represented in a unique art installation that will debut at the ArchLIGHT Summit on September 21. The Design DNA database is powered by The Lighting Exchange, a branding platform that facilitates connections between agencies, manufacturers and customers.
As the first commercial lighting event to take place in nearly two years, ArchLIGHT Summit attendees will be able to see their Design DNA data represented as a light display in an immersive and interactive installation designed by Light Collective using the modular LIGEO LED Lighting System. The installation will be located on the first floor of the Dallas Trade Mart alongside booth exhibits from leading commercial lighting manufacturers. The installation will serve as a meeting point for ArchLIGHT Summit’s opening night party – “DNA Discovery” on September 21. This themed event, celebrating the discovery of participants’ Design DNA, will provide fun guided tours of some exclusive permanent showrooms on the third and fourth floors of the Trade Mart.
The “DNA Discovery” Event will run 7pm to 10 pm on ArchLIGHT Summit’s opening night, Tuesday, September 21 and will provide food, drinks and entertainment while exploring inspiring showrooms from participating brands like Accord Lighting, Acuity Brands, American Lighting, Eurofase, Hinkley, Hubbardton Forge, Hudson Valley Lighting Group, Modern Forms, Progress Lighting and WAC Lighting. Access to the show floor and hospitality events is complimentary, and a flat fee of $50 admits attendees to all seminars and panel discussions.
