Walters Wholesale Contributes to New Hope Grief Counseling Center

Walters has been a steady contributor over the years, but the need has grown. New Hope Grief Counseling Center aids area families who struggle to cope with the loss of loved ones and their client base has grown dramatically due to the rise in Covid deaths in Long Beach and the surrounding areas. David Leonard, Executive Director and Bill Durkee, Walters President, met to review their key needs.

Nationally, over 170,000 children have lost a parent due to Covid. New Hope plans weekend counseling outings for these families. Donations buy sleeping bags, pillows, camping equipment, food and counselors for these therapeutic getaways.

New Hope normally plans 10 outings a year on top of weekday office visits. Now with the terrible increasing death rate from Covid, they had to more than double their outings in 2021. More will be needed in 2022. Walters’ contribution this year was made in memory of Jared Johnson, a member of our construction industry who passed in 2021 from Covid.

If you are interested in helping answer this need, please contact David Leonard at New Hope Grief Counselling: davidl@newhopegrief.org, or contact Bill Durkee for more information: bill.durkee@walterswholesalecom.
