IES Orange County Presents Sam Barker with the 2024 Section Service Award

The Illuminating Engineering Society is the recognized Technical & Educational
Authority on Illumination. Its Mission is to improve Life through the Quality of Light by
bringing together those with lighting knowledge and by translating that knowledge into actions
that benefit the public. The Society consists of 93 Sections throughout the United States, Canada
and Mexico and each year the local sections select one distinguished member to receive the
section service award for their valuable contribution to the local section and to the Society as a
whole.

The IES Orange County Section is honored to present Sam Barker with the 2024 Section
Service award!

Sam Barker has been in the Lighting Industry since 1977 in which he started installing
Tube Lighting for Limousine Running Boards resulting in his First Wholesale distribution
company that would later famously be known as SEBCO Industries that is still in Orange County
after 47 years. Five Years ago, Sam continued to expand SEBCO by opening another Location
outside Ft. Worth Texas and now his Son’s Tim & Sam Barker Jr both have taken over the reins
since his retirement.

Sam with SEBCO have participated in every single IESOC Event for as long as anyone
can remember, which is why after 5 decades of friendship and support to the IES Orange County
section and the Lighting Industry as a whole they are so honored to give Him this much deserved
Section Service award.
