The Elastimold® Advanced Connection System – Shear Bolt, new from Thomas & Betts® (T&B®), a member of the ABB Group, installs with a standard wrench and without additional components.
The simplified installation of the Elastimold Advanced Connection System – Shear Bolt enables underground cable connections to be made more safely and quickly.
Additional benefits of the Elastimold Advanced Connection System – Shear Bolt include a head that shears off at the appropriate torque, which reduces the chance of human error and provides greater reliability. The new Shear Bolt also features a range-taking selection of four sizes to accommodate wire sizes from 2AWG to 1,250MCM, thus simplifying selection for greater flexibility and inventory reduction.

The easily sheared Elastimold Advanced Connection System – Shear Bolt leaves a smooth finish that enables a flush fit against the body of the connector; filing down burrs or sharp edges is no longer necessary. Installation with a wrench and no additional components, as well as easy shearing at the correct torque, enable the Elastimold Advanced Connection System – Shear Bolt to be installed reliably with just a simple hand tool to expedite work in tight spaces.
Made of aluminum and electroplated with tin, the Elastimold Advanced Connection System – Shear Bolt is current rated up to 900 amps for aluminum or copper conductors. It is compatible with Elastimold T body connectors, as well as vault stretchers and straight receptacles from 15kV to 35kV and IEEE 386 separable connectors.
Elastimold Advanced Connection System – Shear Bolts are available as stand-alone items or in kits.
