Espen Technology announced an expansion of its Type B, Double-Ended input (DE), LED tube family, to include 5′ & 6′ T8s, as well as 4′ T5HO models. Espen’s Flex family of Type B tubes operate directly off of line voltage, utilizing a driver within the tube. This avoids the compatibility concerns of operating TLEDs on existing fluorescent ballasts. Type B also eliminates uncertainties about the remaining operating life of installed fluorescent ballasts. The addition of the double-ended input feature simplifies installation and reduces labor costs.
According to John Clancy, SVP of Sales & Marketing at Espen, “The market has been tremendously receptive to the introduction of our double-ended input Flex family.” Clancy added, “The Type B DE lamps will continue to grow in popularity as an increasing number of facility managers want to avoid operating TLEDs on old fluorescent ballasts. It’s another area where Espen is leading the industry.”
The 5′ & 6′ T8 Type B DE lamps are offered in both Slimline (Fa8 base) and HO/VHO (R17d base) configurations. The lamps have an ArmorCoat shatterproof coating on a frosted glass tube to optimize light output, thermal management, a 325 degree wide beam angle, while preventing glare. These 5′ & 6′ lamps are suitable for damp and dry locations and integrate thermal fuse protection. They’re UL listed with a 5 year warranty.
The 4′ T5HO Type B DE lamps have a frosted real glass tube to eliminate glare, a 240 degree wide beam angle, and optimal light output and heat dissipation. These lamps are DLC listed to qualify for utility rebates, along with UL damp location listing, and a 5 year warranty.
