First introduced in 2014, Orbit’s original Box and Conduit Hanger Support plates continue to revolutionize overhead installations across the country.
Plates are designed and MADE IN THE USA – ideal for use in Public Projects at the local, state, and federal-level. To-date, BCHS Series has been field-proven on hundreds of commercial and industrial jobs across the country, including some high-profile hospital and airport projects.
“Our [BCHS] plates are based on a contractor’s idea, and allow the installer to pre-assemble the box and connectors on the plate [prior to connecting conduit on site],” said Orbit president and former contractor, David Nikayin. “We strive to really listen to contractors. And develop products that help them become more productive on every job.”
BCHS Series is designed to simplify hanging electrical boxes and positioning conduit in overhead applications. These 15-gauge steel plates also save considerable material costs versus traditional suspension methods. BCHS Series mounts in horizontal or vertical positions, suspended by just ONE standard 3/8″ threaded rod. Employing the BCHS Series greatly reduces the need to cut and measure slotted channel and threaded rod on the job site. Best of all, BCHS plates are SELF-REINFORCING as more conduits are added.
The BCHS Series features several innovations that contribute to time-savings and safety. Pin holes along each edge of the plates allow for attachment of conduit straps using Tek screws. Slots run parallel to the pin holes, allowing for quick positioning of pipe hangers. Stamped markings on the plate allow for quick and accurate positioning of electrical boxes and NEMA enclosures. Four pre-punched holes at plate-center allow rear raceway access. Pre-bent tabs on select models are used to secure the plate in vertical positions. They are UL Rated up to 100 lbs.
These built-in features make the BCHS Series ideal for off-site prefabrication. BCHS plates can be assembled in the shop with boxes and fittings pre-installed. On the job site, simply couple the BCHS assembly to the ceiling rod in JUST ONE TRIP up the ladder / man-lift.
Orbit’s BCHS Series is available in four models, available fit up to 8” x 8” thru 12” x 12” enclosures: BCHS-10: this 10-3/4” x 10-3/4” octagonal plate (nick-named “stop signs”) fit up to 6” x 6” boxes. For horizontal mounting only. BCHS-6: same plate as the BCHS-10, but with pre-bent tabs that allow for vertical suspension by threaded rod. BCHS-6S: this 13” x 13” plate fits up to 8” x 8” boxes, and features unique OFF-SET FLANGES for use of 1-hole straps (instead of the more costly pipe hangers). Also includes bent tabs for vertical mounting. BCHS-12: this 18” x 18” plate fits up to 12” x 12” NEMA enclosures – or several square boxes for multi-system installations. Also includes bent tabs for vertical mounting.
