RACO offers two sizes of Old Work Pans for easy remodeling. The 4″ model 297 and 3.5″ model 290 electrical boxes mount light fixtures to existing ceilings or walls. RACO, part of Hubbell Commercial Construction, provides innovative electrical products to commercial and residential markets.
RACO’s shallow round electrical boxes are designed to support light fixtures on the ceiling or wall in existing or retrofit applications. Only half-inch deep, they won’t interfere with existing obstructions in the wall or ceiling. The 4″ diameter 297 is popular with electrical contractors working on residential bathrooms, where they run into issues with plumbing.
The flange and bracket design allows the 297 and 290 to be used on 1/2″ or 5/8″ drywall without stud mounting. After cutting the proper size hole, electricians simply insert the bracket and tighten the screw to secure the pan in place. A breakable screw and low profile wingnut provides clearance for low profile fixture canopies.
RACO Old Work Pans support light fixtures up to 6lbs. They are constructed of zinc plated steel and include a convenient raised ground. The 297 provides four ½” knockouts for connecting cable while the 290 two ½” knockouts. Fittings are not included.
The 2970 and 290 provides electrical contractors an effective way to reduce installation time and increase productivity. Easy to follow instructions and mounting hardware are included.
