City Electric Supply Expands in Renewables Market

RALEIGH, NC — City Electric Supply is excited to announce they are expanding their support in renewables. After much national success in the utility/large commercial market, CES officially launches their residential division.

Kickstarting their service in residential, National Renewable Business Development Manager Robbie McNamara, is excited for an abundance of opportunity with this new division.

“The industry has grown vastly over the last 10 years and is forecasted to continue growing beyond the expiration of the ITC in 2022.  This proves the price of the technology has come down enough that it’s readily attainable for homeowners and businesses to continue investing in renewable energy,” McNamara said.

The main hub for the Renewable Energies Group (REG) is, located in Morrisville, NC.  It is operated by Mason Phillips, who has 10 years of utility scale installation experience, and overseen by McNamara and Vice President of Operations Gary Smith. REG is vastly experienced in the utility/large commercial business. In the last 11 years, REG has supplied over 7GW worth of projects nationwide, from small residential/light commercial installations to  utility size solar farms ranging from 2MW to 300MW.

This success created opportunity that resulted in a new office in Dallas, Texas, which opened this spring, and a Florida office opening this summer, but the big leap is jumping into a purely residential/light commercial division.

At the helm of the residential division is Rob Smith with 10 years of residential/light commercial renewable construction experience.  Rob has over 800 installations under his belt that range from 2KW to 1.2MW.  He also holds a current NABCEP PV Installation Professional certification and past Unlimited Electrical licenses in North and South Carolina.  The team is currently servicing Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia with Florida launching this summer.

“It’s exciting to see this continued interest in renewable energy at a residential level, and people doing their part to take care of the planet. I think this industry as a whole is going to grow another 10 to 20 percent over the next decade even without the ITC; I imagine the government and various utility companies will draft more mandates and incentives that continue to encourage and reward the use of renewables to power  homes,” McNamara mused.

In addition to focusing on quality products, the Renewable Energies Group also has their eyes set on better serving their customers.
