Espen Technology Introduces Type B T5 Lamps and Type B Emergency Driver

Espen has released their much anticipated Type B T5 TLEDs.  The lamps are part of the Flex family of internal driver lamps designed for operation on line voltage.  The new Flex T5’s are double ended for easier installation, and work with both shunted or non-shunted tombstones.  The real glass tube provides optimal light output and heat diffusion.

For safety, there is integrated thermal fuse protection and UL listing.  DLC listing for the lamps is pending.  The Flex DE T5 are 25W, 3500 lumens, 140 lpW and universal input voltage.  They’re offered in 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, and 5000K CCTs, with 80+ CRI and 50,000 hour rated life.

“These new Type B T5 lamps have been the most requested item from customers, for the past year.  We are very pleased to now be able to offer them,” said John Clancy, SVP of Sales & Marketing at Espen.

Espen Technology has launched a new emergency driver for Type B TLEDs.  Model number VEMB20W Type B Emergency Driver overcomes the challenge of AC lamp input requirements, compared to DC.  Since Type B TLEDs are wired directly to line voltage, these TLEDs with an internal driver do not require a fluorescent ballast to convert line voltage to DC current.  When no external ballast is available to wire to, an auxiliary supply such as a generator or inverter must be used to provide emergency line power.  Espen has developed an emergency solution to overcome this challenge. Espen’s VEMB20W Type B Emergency Driver is a long awaited solution for Type B TLED emergency illumination.  At 20W, this emergency driver illuminates most TLEDs at full brightness. The emergency driver test lead allows the user further piece of mind to ensure the driver is installed and operating correctly. Espen Technology stands behind this product with a 5 year warranty.

“Emergency drivers for Types A & C TLEDs have been around for some time, but there has been a gap in the market for a Type B Emergency Driver, for those who prefer to eliminate the fluorescent ballast from the system,” said Clancy.  He added, “This much needed product is one more reason that Espen leads the indoor linear retrofit market.”
